IRVING, Texas – The Cowboys now have four of their eight draft picks under contract with seventh-round offensive tackle Laurence Gibson signing his rookie deal.
Fifth-round defensive end Ryan Russell, seventh-round linebacker Mark Nzeocha and seventh-round tight end Geoff Swaim have also signed as of Friday afternoon.
Gibson, one of three seventh-round selections, will likely compete for a backup tackle job. The Cowboys believe the two-year Virginia Tech starter has the athleticism to play right or left tackle.
The club also waived guard Daniel Quave and signed offensive lineman Reshod Fortenberry (Texas Tech), a weekend workout at last weekend's rookie minicamp.
Fortenberry is the second workout player to sign as a rookie free agent, joining linebacker Donnie Baggs (Texas A&M).
