As expected, defensive end Marcus Spears was placed on injured reserve Wednesday with a torn calf that he suffered in Sunday's loss to the Packers.
Going to IR not only ends Spears' season, but it quite possibly could be the last time he plays for the Cowboys, considering he will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
The Cowboys also put rookie safety Akwasi Owusu-Ansah on IR with a high-ankle sprain. Owusu-Ansah suffered the injury against Jacksonville and said last week he figured he could return for the final month of the season.
But the Cowboys need the roster spots and proved that Wednesday by adding a pair of defensive linemen.
The club signed Jeremy Clark and Jimmy Saddler-McQueen, who was with the Cowboys in training camp.
Those two will practice Wednesday and could play this week considering both Sean Lissemore (out 4-6 weeks with high-ankle sprain) and Jason Hatcher (Groin) probably won't play this week.
With Spears out, look for Stephen Bowen to start at defensive end opposite Igor Olshansky.
The loss of Owusu-Ansah means Bryan McCann and Dez Bryant will likely take over the kick return duties.
