Gritty and versatile blocker. Wants to finish through a defender with some physicality. Sorts through traffic well, recognizes stunts when they come. Good hands and a first-step explosion can help him play anywhere up front. | Very high pad level, noticeable almost immediately off the snap. Will need some coaching and seasoning in the run game, especially when pulling and reaching. Doesn’t move particularly well in a straight line, more of an anchor. |
OVERVIEW: When the Buckeyes' starting left tackle, Josh Simmons, went down with an injury, those around the Ohio State program didn't panic. Instead, they turned to Donovan Jackson to fill the left-tackle role from Week 10 until the national championship game. He more than kept the train on the tracks, only allowing two sacks over 422 pass-blocking snaps. He has already put "scheme-versatile" and "position-versatile" on his résumé by stepping up in a pinch.
