Showed some burst off the line. Bullies his defenders up front and wants to finish at the second level. Fantastic and polished in pass pro. Strong hands and hand placement allow him to gain leverage inside a defender’s pads. | Dominance at a lower level and a decent showing at the Senior Bowl is his only calling card. Shorter arm length and smaller frame with a run-blocking technique that’s a work in progress. |
OVERVIEW: Finished as the fifth player in Sacramento State history to earn first team all-conference honors over three different seasons. He did so as a four-year starter at left guard, logging nearly 3,000 snaps. Over his final two years, he didn't allow a single sack in more than 850 pass-blocking snaps and finished with only three pressures allowed in his last season. Slater will have to enter the NFL without some of the imposing size or skill that other small-school offensive linemen have brought, but his foundation shows a player who is ready to pass protect at the next level.
