Extremely smart player on the field and was the leader of the Buckeyes’ offensive line when healthy. Understands different schemes and concepts well. Extremely high motor with strong hands and the ability to reach the second level. | Balance was lacking, especially when facing power rushers and bigger defensive tackles. Part of that was due to high pad level and poor hand placement and leverage at times. |
OVERVIEW: What a whirlwind it was for McLaughlin. Four years of solid production that included 24 starts over three seasons at center for the Crimson Tide, followed by a national championship run with the Buckeyes in 2024. Known more for his academics and leadership off the field than maybe his production on the field, McLaughlin graduated with honors and a 4.0 GPA at Alabama. But his production on the field speaks for itself too, as he allowed just one sack in 1,265 pass-blocking snaps between the Crimson Tide and Buckeyes.
