Ideal frame for the current NFL prototype corner. Extremely smart with his positioning and leverage on opposing receivers. Rarely lost in man-to-man and was physical in press coverage. | Overly aggressive and prone to a penalty at times. Will grab and hold for too long. Gets caught out of position and gets eyes caught in the backfield. Susceptible to the occasional missed tackle, mostly due to flawed technique. |
OVERVIEW: Despite missing significant time as a junior with a turf-toe injury, Johnson was named to the second-team All-America list and is still regarded as one of the best defenders in college football. His lasting legacy will forever be tied to the 2023 National Championship Game, where he was named Defensive MVP as a leader on Michigan's best defensive unit in years. Johnson finished his career with six interceptions, 17 pass breakups, 68 tackles and two All-America seasons despite starting just 22 games overall.
