First-step quickness, change of direction and closing speed are all ready for the next level. One of the best coverage linebackers in the class. Heralded with a high understanding of coverages. | Lack of size opens the door for potential problems, like broken tackles and run defense. Could add weight to become a more physical defender. Needs coaching on hand usage to break off blockers and keep in pursuit. |
OVERVIEW: Next up in a successful line of linebackers from Dabo Swinney's tenure with the Tigers is Barrett Carter. Coach Swinney even described him as "one of the best pure football players I've had in 20 years." That was apparent during the recruiting blitz by Swinney's staff to secure the five-star talent. He rewarded the pursuit by providing four consistent years of football, becoming the only player in the country from 2021-24 to record at least 30 tackles for loss, 20 pass breakups and at least three interceptions. He finished with an all-around linebacker résumé.
