Quick feet and heavy hands, the ideal combo for someone his size. Glides well and can recover when in trouble. Keeps pad level low and sets a low anchor too. Always looking for work, showing he can reach the second level easily. | Serious concern about his future health after his knee injury in October. Not as fundamental with his hands as other top tackles. Would get grabby and was flagged for it at times. Struggled against quicker rushers. |
OVERVIEW: After two seasons with San Diego State as a right tackle, Simmons transferred to Ohio State and immediately took over the starting job at left tackle for the Buckeyes. If it wasn't for a devastating knee injury against Oregon in Week 7, his tape would've elevated him to the top of the draft class. Simmons allowed just one pressure last year and still earned All-Big Ten honors despite playing in only six games. His knee will be a talking point for scouting departments, but his tape speaks for itself too.
