Extremely clean footwork and technique. Keeps pad level low despite 6-foot-6-inch build. Finishes with a vengeance and did so against the toughest competition he faced. Strong hands and ability to reach on combo blocks. | His arm length is underwhelming (32 inches). While his hands are strong, they aren’t placed well at times, especially when recovering. Tends to panic on reset. |
OVERVIEW: Zabel began skyrocketing up draft boards during his time at the Senior Bowl in January, but in talking to NFL scouts, the league has had eyes on him for a few years now. His college career began as he entered the program at just 240 pounds out of high school, only to become a two-time FCS national champion and All-American. He started the final 36 games of his career, most of those at left tackle for the Bison. He'll need to continue adding weight to his frame, but based on his track record and work ethic, that won't be a problem.
