2025 NFL Draft Safety Prospects

With Malik Hooker, Donovan Wilson, Markquese Bell and Juanyeh Thomas already on the roster as free agency began and Israel Mukuamu signing soon after, the Cowboys are seemingly in good shape at the safety position. Hooker and Wilson are savvy veterans while the other three are youngsters with plenty of promise. Thomas has been quite the success story in terms of scouting and development. He went from an undrafted free agent to a practice squad member to a solid defensive backup and key special teamer. Is he ready to take that next step with a move into the starting lineup? Meanwhile, Bell has bounced around some between safety and linebacker, and Mukuamu has also seen time at cornerback. Could they challenge the two proven first-stringers as well? No doubt, these are good problems to have. The back end of the Dallas defense had been a sore spot for a number of years, but that hasn’t really been the case in this decade. Yes, the Cowboys could very well pick up help in the draft, but given all of their other needs, finding a safety has to be considered one of the lowest priorities on their list.
