Incredible size and athleticism. Moves very well for the amount of weight he carries around. Great football IQ, which probably stems from his lineage (son of former All-Pro Jim Lachey). Durable and tough receiver in traffic. For someone his size, there should be more dominance in the blocking game. Struggles with high pad level and hand placement when attacking. Too easily tripped up by bad footwork.

OVERVIEW: It feels like every season there is an Iowa tight end who flies under the NFL Draft radar but showcases significant upside. The difference for Lachey is he doesn't really enter with the same level of production at the Big Ten level as former Hawkeyes before him did. He was held to just 227 receiving yards on 27 receptions and no touchdowns in his final season. However, Lachey showcased a receiving ability that intrigued scouts during an impressive week of practice at the East-West Shrine Bowl. He'll hope to tap into that Iowa level of success in the NFL.
