IRVING, Texas - The Cowboys will certainly have some new faces to the coaching staff this year. While defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin will have a new-look defense, there will definitely be new faces on offense as well.
With tight ends coach/passing game coordinator John Garrett leaving to become the wide receiver coach in Tampa Bay, the Cowboys will have at least three new coaches on offense and special teams.
Running backs coach Skip Peete was dismissed from the staff last week and has since landed a job in Chicago, where special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis went, which creates an opening at special teams as well for the Cowboys.
And there might be even more changes as wide receivers coach Jimmy Robinson, who is also the team's assistant head coach, might not return in 2013. The Cowboys have yet to make any official announcements on the staff, other than press releases to announce Kiffin and defensive line coach Rod Marinelli.
John Garrett, the older brother of head coach Jason, joined the staff in 2007 when Jason became offensive coordinator. John Garrett was the tight end coach and later was named passing game coordinator in 2011.
John Garrett applied for the head coaching job at Delaware earlier this month, but after that job was filled, he found a job in Tampa Bay, working with Greg Schiano's coaching staff.
Garrett's coaching resume also includes a four-year stint on the Bengals staff and two years with the Cardinals. He also spent three years at the University of Virginia.
