FRISCO, Texas – It's only January, but draft season is back in full swing.
The crew of The Draft Show got back together on Thursday to begin previewing the 2019 NFL Draft, as Senior Bowl week begins in just four days.
In the first episode of the year, Bryan Broaddus, Dane Brugler, David Helman and Kent Garrison set the scene for what to expect from this year's draft, as well as the upcoming Senior Bowl.
Here are some highlights:
· To open things up, the cast previewed the top of the draft, as Dane Brugler ran down his Top 50 prospects board, assessing the needs of the teams at the top of the draft and how that might affect things moving forward.
· There was also a spirited discussion about the needs currently facing this Cowboys team as it looks to return to the postseason next year. There has been plenty of discussion about the Cowboys' need for a tight end, and the guys debated that against several other pressing needs.
· As usual, the guys took fan questions. This week's questions included the Cowboys' defensive needs in this draft cycle, as well as the possibility of drafting a backup running back. They also got into a conversation about what the future holds for Byron Jones and Taco Charlton.
· The show wrapped up with a Senior Bowl preview. There will be a lot of talent on hand in Mobile, Ala., next week, and the crew went through the rosters. From the intriguing quarterback competition to small school draft gems, the guys gave a snapshot of what to expect from Senior Bowl practices.
