OXNARD, Calif. — It's not taking long for Trevon Diggs to get back to the business of being a nightmare for opposing quarterbacks. Having started training camp on the Dallas Cowboys' physically unable to perform (PUP) list to wrap up rehabilitation on his road back from a torn ACL, the First-Team All-Pro cornerback took another major step forward toward his regular season return.

Diggs participated fully in the team's second scrimmage against the Los Angeles Rams on Wednesday, and grabbed an eye-opening interception in the process.

"Did they count it?" asked Diggs after practice. "They should've. I got both feet in."

That he did, and it shows he's not only on the right track to take the field on Sept. 8 against the Cleveland Browns in season opener, but that he could be back to top form sooner than later.

"It felt good getting back and moving around other players, getting adjusted to other bodies flying near me — so it was good. I got a lot of great work in today. … [The mental portion of coming back] is not really a challenge. I trust it now.

"It's just more so getting the repetition and getting back to doing what I do: getting familiar with the routes. That's pretty much it. As far as mentally being scared or anything, I'm not scared."

The record-setting cornerback is moving exceptionally well in team drills and his athletic interception proves his point in that he's not thinking about the reconstructed ACL at all.

"It's fun getting out there," he said. "I missed playing against another team as well. It was good to get these practice reps in. The season is in, what, four weeks? It's gonna go by fast. … I've gotta be prepared for that and this is the only [chance] I can get prepared for it."

And, by all accounts, he's full speed ahead.
