FRISCO, Texas – Jason Garrett likes the toughness of his football team – the fight they showed Sunday night "scratching and clawing" for defensive stops and eventually erasing a 10-point second-half lead in a dramatic 29-23 overtime win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
Garrett wore proof of his pride, literally, as he took the podium for his Monday press conference with a noticeable scratch on the right side of his face.
"I think I got it from (Jason) Witten," Garrett said. "We all kind of were excited after he scored that touchdown. We all were running around out there. I gave him a big hug, and I forgot that he had a helmet on and I didn't. I think that's from the side of his helmet."
Witten scored the winning 5-yard touchdown in overtime – the first TD of his 14th NFL season – and the entire team crowded around him to celebrate, including the head coach.
