INDIANAPOLIS –As the Cowboys hope to strike long-term deals with cornerstone players such as DeMarcus Lawrence and Zack Martin this offseason, they've also ensured that Will McClay remains a key figure in their front office.
McClay, the Cowboys' vice president of player personnel, has received a two-year contract extension with the team.
Earlier this offseason, McClay officially declined an interview for the Houston Texans' general manager vacancy eventually filled by Brian Gaine.
McClay has overseen the club's NFL Draft process since 2014 and plays a role in free agent and trade acquisitions. In the last four drafts, the Cowboys have added four Pro Bowlers (Zack Martin, DeMarcus Lawrence, Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott) and several starters, including Byron Jones, Anthony Hitchens and Maliek Collins.
Cowboys officials are continuing their pre-draft evaluations this week at the NFL Scouting Combine.
