IRVING, Texas -With four games left in the season, the NFC East division race is still looking like it might come down to the wire. At 8-5, the Giants currently hold a one-game lead over both the Cowboys and Redskins, who are both 7-6.
The Giants have two road games coming up against the Atlanta Falcons and Baltimore Ravens, which could open up the door for the Cowboys to move in and claim the title.
Technically, whether nine or 10 wins will be enough to make the playoffs will very likely depend on how the Giants fare in their last three games. Their final game is against the division rival Philadelphia Eagles.
But if you ask Jason Witten about the division race and the Cowboys playoff hopes, which hang in the balance, he will tell you that the goal is quite simple.
"We've got to win them all," Witten said. "It's that easy. You don't look any further than that."
Witten may very well be right. Expecting the Giants to lose two of their last three or even drop their last three games is probably asking for too much. But if the Cowboys are able to sweep their last three games against Pittsburgh, New Orleans and Washington, then there is a decent chance they can slip into the division lead.
According to Witten, the mindset in the Cowboys locker room is focused squarely on preparation for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
"One game at a time," Witten said. "We've been saying that for the last two weeks, just take it one game at a time. I think circumstances have kind of made you do that, but even before that was (head coach Jason Garret's) message. This league's too tough to try to play (and think) 'what did New York do today?' And I'm sure they're not worried about us either. That's our mindset and it's got to be that way."
With three games remaining, Witten needs 120 yards to record his fourth 1,000-yard receiving season of his career. Even more impressive, Witten needs only 10 more receptions to tie Tony Gonzalez's record for most receptions by a tight end in a single season.
