My Cause My Boots | 2019
Today we dance for a cause. 37 causes, and 37 reasons why this is more than just another game spent on the sidelines. These are our Lucchese boots, and these are our causes! #MyCauseMyBoots

Alexis: Breast Cancer Awareness
For My Cause My Boots this year, I chose the color pink to honor Breast Cancer Awareness. I chose this cause for my friend Natalie who was diagnosed a little over a year ago. I met Natalie when we were both trainers at a fitness gym and she is one of the strongest and most uplifting people I've ever met. Throughout the entire process, she continued to stay positive and resiliant and was truly an inspiration to all of us. Even with the various treatments she had to undergo, she still continued to be a constant light to everyone around her and gave me an entire different perspective on living each and every day to your absolute fullest. She came into work and you would never know the hardships she was facing. I had no doubt in my mind that she would kick cancers butt and she is now officially a breast cancer survivor!
Even though awareness has been growing over the years for this terrible disease, we still haven't scratched the surface of everything that can be done and I am so honored to wear pink on my Lucchese boots to bring light to this cause!

Alanna: Lobular Breast Cancer
For My Cause My Boots, I chose Lobular Breast Cancer in honor of my Auntie Gloria! This type of breast cancer is different than most because it does not show up on a mammogram while it continues to spread throughout the body. While my Aunt Glo is battling this cancer, she never lets it stop her from living her life! She continues her work as a teacher and shares her passion with her students. Thanks to medicine she is going to be 53 on December 12th this year.
The cancer is now in her lower leg bone and near her adrenal gland in her abdomen. She is on oral chemotherapy and will be for the rest of her life to keep it from growing. To be able to honor her and have a piece of her with me on the field is very special to me. She is one of the strongest women I know because despite having to deal with the side effects of her medication she never loses her beautiful smile. Her infectious laugh, caring heart, and passion for helping others is why I want to recognize her on this special day!

Ashlee: Alzheimer's Disease
My great grandmother "Aya" passed away of Alzheimer's Disease in 2006 at the age of 93. I was 11 years old. Alzheimer's is an irreversible, progressive brain disorder that slowly destroys memory and thinking skills and eventually the ability to carry out the simplest tasks. Aya was the sweetest grandma that even into her old age offered you laughs, love, and good cooking. As the sickness progressed, she would forget more and more— she'd address her great grandkids (my cousins and I) as though we were our parents in the 70's. Although the illness overtook her memory, it couldn't take away the sweetest of memories we have with her.

Amber: Parkinson's Disease
I chose a Grey star to represent Parkinson's Disease. My great grandfather, GaGa, was the great role model a little girl could ask for. For the last few years of his life he suffered from this disease and it ultimately got the better of him. Parkinson's disease is a progressive nervous system disorder that affects movement. I would like to bring awareness to Parkinson's because as of now there is only treatment for the symptoms but is incurable. Throughout the 5 stages there are distinct regressions but GaGa, my grandfather, never stopped supporting me, praying with me, and eating bacon (his favorite). His laugh filled a room and his relationship with the lord warmed everyones hearts. I'm hoping that my boot can raise awareness and help/support finding not just treatment, but a cure.

Amanda: Down Syndrome
I chose to represent Down Syndrome as my cause. This cause is so near to my heart because my brother was born with Down Syndrome. He was the absolute happiest baby even through all of his pain. I do everything I can to live a life that he would be proud of today. I miss him everyday. If he were still with us I would want him to live in a world of inclusion and love. We have to spread the word to end the word.

Brennan: Mental Health- Psychological Abuse
For My Boots My Cause, I chose mental health, and more specifically, psychological abuse in order to bring awareness and represent women of all ages. Whether it's a personal relationship or in the workplace, psychological abuse has been far too easy for us to understand and relate. Many of us have personally experienced emotional abuse in a relationship or in the workplace. For those who have not, you likely know someone who has. Psychological abuse can occur at any age, in any environment, and can feel like there's not a way out. I chose to represent this cause to let women out there know that whether you are currently experiencing it or if you are a survivor, you are not alone and I promise you are strong enough to get through it.

Amy: Alzheimer's Disease
This year I chose the color purple to represent Alzheimers for My Cause My Boots to honor my grandmother. She has been struggling through this for a couple years now. This disease is a heart breaking one as it takes beloved memories from one's mind and is especially hard on those around them. This is also why I've chosen purple to support caregiver awareness and honor my papa, mom, aunts, and uncle. It's been very hard watching my mom and my family go through this time with my Grammy, but in the end I'm thankful that she has the support from people around her who help her. I'm so thankful I get to wear these boots at a Cowboy's game honoring not only my Grammy but everyone in my family.

Briana: Foster Care Awareness
The number of children in foster care has risen every year since 2012 and more than 23,000 children will age out of the foster care system this year. When children age out of the foster care system without a forever home and/or family, they are met with staggering statistics regarding the low likelihood of success they will experience throughout their lives. At least 20% of foster children who age out will become immediately homeless and less than 3% will ever obtain a college degree at any point in their lives. By becoming involved first hand with older foster children, my family has seen the direct effects of what a stable relationship, guidance, and support can do to propel these often forgotten about children into the next stages of life with success. Reminding ourselves that these children are not just statistics, but can be our next leaders, neighbors, and community heroes with just a little extra love is something that I am proud to bring awareness to with My Cause My Boots.

Bridget: Prevention of Cruelty of Animals
For My Cause My Boots, I wanted to shed light on the rescues and organizations that work on the prevention of cruelty to animals, specifically on the Laughing Pony Rescue, a horse rescue I volunteered at when I lived in San Diego. I have seen first-hand the positive impact that animals, particularly horses, have on humans, and I wanted to bring awareness to this issue in order to inform others on how important animals are to society and ought to be treated as such. I have witnessed and helped rehabilitate horses that went on to be service animals to those with PTSD, anxiety, depression, and autism, and transform their lives. Laughing Pony Rescue saves horses from feedlots, Premarin farms, neglect, and abuse. I personally was unaware of the mass amount of equine abuse that occurs in America until I became involved in LPR, and now want to do what I can to make others aware as well, as having knowledge of an issue is the best way to ensure that efforts are made to instill change. I'm thankful to be able to use this platform to give a voice to the voiceless, and want to thank the amazing organizations such as Laughing Pony Rescue and the ASPCA for their tireless efforts in saving these precious beings and giving them an opportunity to do what they do best – bring happiness and change lives.

Chandi: Alzheimer's Disease
For My Cause My Boots, I chose Alzheimer's disease. My Grandma was diagnosed with Alzheimer's just a four years ago. This disease affects not only the individual but also everyone who loves her. The hardest part about this is watching how it affects my aunt and her sisters. My aunt is so strong and loving so watching her watch her mom be affected touches my heart. I want to spread even more awareness to this disease because it is so common and affects so many people. I love my grandma and did this for her.

Caroline: Lung Cancer Awareness
This year, for My Cause My Boots, I chose the color white to represent lung cancer awareness. My grandfather passed away from this disease at the age of 45, leaving behind a wife, four children, and eleven future grandchildren. I am able to feel his love and kindness through my mom and her family still today, as they have continued to preach his morals and work ethic. With 1 in 15 people in the U.S. currently expected to receive a lung cancer diagnosis, I want to bring attention and awareness to those fighting this disease. I hope to raise support for people dealing with lung cancer, ultimately find a cure, and keep loved ones with their friends and family.

Christina: Uterine and Ovarian Cancer
I chose to bring awareness to uterine and ovarian cancer in honor and support of my boyfriends mom, Sue. Although I did not know her during the time of her battle, the woman I know now has been an inspiration to me. Watching how she lives her life has shown me that cancer only has as much power as you give it. Sue was simply unwilling to relent any control to her cancer and she attacked everyday with that mindset. I want this tribute to be focused on the woman that cancer formed; a loving, giving, selfless woman that everyday during her fight chose to have the strength, the willingness to live, and the mental fortitude to overcome anything that was put in her path. She proves to me that no matter if it's cancer or some other extreme hardship you are facing, you always have a choice. You can choose to let the hardship control you, or you can choose to take the reigns and live your life. I wish everyone currently going through cancer or any type of illness can hear Sue's story and draw from her strength, because I know I am a stronger woman with her now a part of my life.

Daphne: Pancreatic Cancer
This year for My Cause, My Boots I've chosen the color purple in honor of my grandfather and to help bring awareness to Pancreatic Cancer. My grandpa was an accomplished and compassionate man who not only served our country as a 2-star admiral in the Navy, but also raised a beautiful family with 3 children and 18 grandchildren. My younger brothers and I were so fortunate to have grown up 5 minutes down the road from him and my grandma, and I will always cherish our Christmas mornings spent making donuts together and our many boat rides through the harbor as he tried to teach me how to sail. Pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest cancers with a 5 year survival rate of only 7%, and after a long and brave battle against the disease, my grandfather unfortunately passed away in April of this year. My grandpa lived a life filled with amazing experiences and overflowing with so much love. He touched the lives of so many people, including my own, and it's truly an honor to celebrate him by wearing this purple star on the field. He has always been my biggest supporter, and though I would give anything to see him sitting in the stands, I know he will be cheering me on from the best seat in the house.

Gina: Fibromylagia
My name is Gina, and for this year's My Cause My Boots, I am choosing to raise awareness for fibromyalgia in honor of my mom. Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition which causes pain throughout the entire musculoskeletal system, irritability of mood, and difficulties involving memory. Unfortunately, researchers have not identified exactly what causes fibromyalgia or how to cure it. Fibromyalgia is often misdiagnosed, as the unique combination of medications for each patient is found through trial and error. My mom has been affected for several years, went through many misdiagnoses and suffered greatly under incorrect medication. I experienced this first hand as I watched my mom go from a vibrant and outgoing mother to someone struggling to stand up. After much trial and error with medications, my mom is thankfully back to her lively, passionate self. I want to be a voice for those suffering in silence, and raise awareness for the great number of people who work to manage their symptoms daily. You truly never know what battles someone is fighting, so I am encouraging everyone to be conscious of the way they treat others. Kindness is a gift that everyone can afford to give.

Cianna: American Heart Association
For this year's My Cause My Boots, I am representing the American Heart Association by wearing red stars. Not only am I apart of the Association, working in Corporate Communications, but I am a strong advocate in our overall mission in being a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives. Cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death. Heart disease and stroke cause 1 in 3 deaths among women each year- more than all cancers combined. I love that I can fight for women's health and well-being off the field and stand for women empowerment on the field. I'm proud to say that I work everyday with the American Heart Association to save lives.

Erin: Human Trafficking
I have chosen to bring awareness to human trafficking for My Cause My Boots. I think most Texans would be shocked to know that there are an estimated 300,000 victims of human trafficking in Texas alone, with 79,000 of these victims being under the age of 18. Texas recently ranked 1st in the United States for active human trafficking cases. North Texas is the most active area with an estimated 400 trafficked, underage teens working the streets of Dallas each night. When I realized that this evil is going on right under our noses, I knew I had to spread awareness to others. After extensively researching human trafficking, I found that there are many ways in which we can do our part to bring an end to this modern-day slavery. I hope to inspire people to research and educate themselves on how to identify a potential victim, as well as how to prevent human trafficking from happening to themselves, or a loved one.

Hannah: Suicide Prevention Awareness
Suicide Prevention Awareness advocates for those who have sought treatment for suicidal thoughts or actions or those who have experienced losing someone to suicide. Suicide is a major public health concern. Over 47,000 people died by suicide in the United States in 2017; it is the 10th leading cause of death in America. Suicide is complicated and tragic, but it is often preventable. Knowing the warning signs for suicide and how to get help can help save lives. Suicide prevention efforts seek to increase factors that help strengthen, support, and protect individuals from suicide by promoting hope, easing access into effective treatment, encouraging connectedness, and supporting recovery. Everyone has a role to play in preventing suicide. We can all take part in improving the dialogue surrounding suicide.

Heather: Bullying Prevention
This season I will be wearing a BLUE star on the field of AT&T Stadium to raise awareness for Bullying Prevention. The connotation of the word "bullying" may sound severe; but it is a common problem that is prevalent among children and adults across the country. Bullying is the abuse and mistreatment of someone vulnerable by someone stronger or more powerful. Though many people think of bullying as primarily physical – more frequent types of bullying include verbal, social, and cyberbullying. As result of a recent survey, 1 in every 5 students ages 9-12 has experienced bullying either in school or online.
There are a handful of Bullying Prevention programs who work to educate the community against discrimination and violence and teach effective solutions on how to respond to all forms of bullying. With a BLUE star on my boots and compassion in my heart, I will live by example to promote a culture of kindness and inclusivity among children and adults and work to put an end to all forms of bullying!

Lily: Alzheimer's Disease
I chose Alzheimers as my cause in honor of my late grandmother, Grandma June. Growing up, my grandmother played an important role in my life: always sitting in the audience at my dance recitals, making the yummiest snacks after school, and one of my fondest memories, watching the Price is Right together for hours. Unfortunately, Alzheimers is a common disease seen in elderly people that destroys memory and other vital mental functions. Since this is a common disease, I know many people can relate to the struggles of watching someone you love battle and be overcome by this illness. Unfortunately there is no current cure to this disease, making the diagnosis of Alzheimer's heartbreaking. Even though this is an incurable disease, I think it's important to start taking steps early on to ensure you're doing everything you can to keep a strong and healthy mind. With extensive research always taking place on how to prevent and reverse the degeneration of brain cells that causes Alzheimers, we can only hope one day there will be a cure to this horrible disease.

Jalyn: Ovarian Cancer Awareness
I would like to dedicate my boots my cause to small cell ovarian cancer awareness in honor of my family friend Kelly. Ovarian cancer is called the "whisper cancer" it tells you something is wrong but without cancer symptoms. Normal testing does not detect ovarian cancer, and most ovarian cancers are found when they have reached stage 4. Kelly was diagnosed is 2013 and had a reoccurrence in December of 2018. She finished two rounds of chemo this past July and is currently cancer free. Kelly volunteers at the Gildas Club in Evansville, a cancer support community. She teaches art once a month to cancer survivors and volunteers each week in the infusion room with those taking chemo. You will never catch Kelly without a smile on her face. She takes her positive attitude to impact other women as their mentor who have been newly diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

Kelcey: Sudden Unexplained Death in Children Foundation
I chose the Sudden Unexplained Death in Children Foundation for my cousin that recently lost her son, Ace, unexpectedly. They had no answers for why his life ended so early, and it was a really tough time for my family. The SUDC foundation was amazing and very supportive through that time of grief and healing. Losing a young child unexpectedly is something no parent should ever have to go through, and the SUDC foundation spreads awareness, funds research, and supports families going through similar tragedies. My heart is with my cousin, Megan, and her husband, Mike, as they keep Ace's impact alive- we will never forget his sweet smile.

Kat: Albinism Awarness
For My cause, I chose Albinism Awareness. Albinism is an inherited genetic condition that reduces the amount of melanin pigment formed in the skin, hair and/or eyes. Albinism occurs in all racial and ethnic groups throughout the world and approximately one in 18,000 to 20,000 people have some form of albinism. I'm lucky enough to help spread awareness because of my cousin Allie. She was given this physical vessel for a reason and it has made her and everyone she encounters, wiser. When you see someone, who is "different" from societal norms, the first reaction is to stare. However, I encourage everyone to counteract that initial response with a smile and a compliment. These simple two notion are a confident booster to you and the other person.

Kristin: Hearing Impairiment
For My Cause My Boots I chose to raise awareness for "hearing impairment." What many people don't know is that Deaf people are proud to be "deaf" and prefer that term used rather than "hearing impaired." For thousands of years Deaf people have been misunderstood. I chose this cause because the Deaf community is very important to me, and I want others to learn more about it. By educating people on Deaf culture, the Deaf community and sign language, my hope is that I can shed some light on those misconceptions and bridge the gap between hearing and Deaf people. Since learning ASL and working in Deaf ministry, I have gotten to know Deaf people on a deep level and have had the opportunity to serve them and alongside them. It is my honor to represent them in my cause to advocate for this outstanding people group.

Lexie: Special Olympics
This year for My Cause My Boots I'm choosing to bring awareness to Special Olympics in honor of my childhood friend, Amy! She is one of the most caring and thoughtful people I know. Amy is a huge DCC fan and is extremely supportive, she never fails to wish me luck before every game. I hope to return that feeling of support by raising awareness for Special Olympics. Amy has been participating in Special Olympics bowling, basketball, and swimming for 8 years. There are many ways to give back to this organization through volunteering as well as donations. Visit https://www.specialolympics.org/ to find out how to get involved!

Maddie: Down Syndrome
My cause this year is Down syndrome awareness. The last two years I got to represent an individual who completely changed my life for the better, his name was Matt....he just happened to have Down syndrome. Because of him I have been blessed in so many ways and the opportunity to represent him the past 2 season has been the biggest blessing. Those experiences opened up even more doors into the lives of so many families who have a child or adults who are rocking an extra chromosome. I have had the opportunity to grow so close with the Down syndrome community and have met some of the most amazing people who I now call friends. To keep Matt's legacy alive I hope to continue to bring awareness to Down syndrome and the incredible individuals who are capable of so much. 21 chromosomes is always a good look. Be a friend, show kindness and remember that we are all capable of whatever we put our minds to!

Lisa: First Responder and Veterans Awareness
For My Cause My Boots, I chose to honor first responders and veterans. Within the last two years, I lost two of my biggest male role models, my uncle Billy and my Uncle Carlos. My uncle Billy served as a policeman and a volunteer firefighter, and my Uncle Carlos served as a policeman and was an Air Force veteran. Not only were they the most selfless and giving people I knew, but they exemplified commitment and passion through service in keeping their families and communities safe. I not only want to dedicate My Cause My Boots to my family but to all the first responders and veterans for defending and protecting our families and nation. Thank you to our heroes for bravely pursuing your call with such compassion, dignity, honor, and grace. Uncle Billy and Uncle Carlos, you will forever be my heroes, and I hope and pray to live and carry on your traditions and values that you have instilled in me.

Madeline: Early Childhood Literacy
After football season last year, my life was filled with cheerleading appearances, teaching dance, and spending time with family friends - all of which opened my eyes to the importance of Early Childhood Literacy. Simply put, Literacy is the ability to read and write I learned that the building blocks of a child's language and literacy cognition develop during the first 3 years of life, and set the course for their brain development for the rest of their life! Children who are routinely read to day in and day out, talk about books, and engage in various language learning activities thrive - in school, problem solving, and even day to day conversation. Children with less exposure to books face tougher learning challenges in school and beyond. Growing up, I volunteered in my local library, and have countless memories of reading with my family. Reading and writing have always been important to me, but I was just having fun back then - I had no idea how much impact reading and learning literacy skills could impact my brain development! I now recognize that responsibility, handle it with care, and want to help little ones grow into their best and brightest - which is exactly why I chose Early Childhood Literacy for My Cause, My Boots.

Miranda: Subatance Abuse and Addiction
This year, I have chosen the red ribbon for substance abuse and addiction. This cause has been something very close to me for the better part of my life. I have seen loved ones and close friends suffer from addiction and abuse. I am wanting to bring awareness to this cause to show people to be open minded to people with addiction. It is not an easy thing to deal with and it not only affects themselves, but everybody around them. The best thing you can do for them is provide them with emotional support. Getting over addiction can only be successful if you feel that you have support from the loved ones in your life.

Meredith: Head and Neck Cancer
My dad is a proud survivor of tonsil cancer. After two surgeries, radiation treatments and a long recovery, my dad has been cancer free for almost 6 years. After my dad recovered, I watched him grow into an adventurous person with a new love for life. He began trying new things such as becoming a docent, attending citizen's police academy classes, learning how to pilot a fixed wing glider, going to the Culinary Institute of America for BBQ classes, learning self defense, and taking a stand up comedy course. He won his battle with cancer and his life has only been enhanced. He is an inspiration to me and all of those battling cancer.

Molly: Mental Health
I chose mental health awareness for my cause my boots because it's an illness that effects so many, yet is one that our society has subconsciously made people feel they have to hide. Mental health is what makes up the way we perceive ourselves and life around us, so to have an illness that disables that is, in my eyes, one of the (if not the) most powerful factors of our lives. I grew up with a family member very close to me who suffered from depression and other mental disorders, and I watched it overcome their life, at the same time while watching others not understand because they seemed "normal" on the outside. Mental illness is something that so many of us walk around with, whether that be a big or small, but because it's not as obvious on the outside it often goes overlooked or not considered a viable illness to have. I want to spread awareness of mental illness to help those who are struggling know that they are not alone, and to encourage others to always remember to treat each other with kindness, because you don't know what someone could be battling on the inside.

Victoria: Body Image Disorder
For My Cause My Boots, I would like to bring awareness to body image disorders. This disorder causes people to be overly critical of themselves and be overly obsessed with how others view their body. Having a negative body image can lead to feelings of shame and feeling "not good enough". With constant messages from peers, advertising, social media, the pressure to live up to unrealistic physical standards can feel overwhelming. People with negative body image sometimes shut down and hide and are uncomfortable around food (which in turn, could possibly develop into an eating disorder). I chose this cause to share because I've been through it at one point in my life. It's very difficult and dark and makes you feel your all time low. If you are silently suffering with a poor body image, please go tell someone – trust me you can talk about it!!! You are beautiful, you are special and you are perfect.

Rachel W: Heart Health Awareness
This year I hope to use my custom Lucchese boots to bring awareness to heart health. Two years ago, while out of the country, my mom started experiencing difficulty breathing, and mistook her condition for reflux. Upon returning home, she visited her doctor, who performed an EKG test, and referred her to a cardiologist. Following a stress test, the cardiologist suspected blockage and did a angioplasty procedure. He found 2 blockages-one of her arteries was 99% blocked and my mom's "widowmaker" artery was 85% blocked. I am so grateful my mom is alive and with us today! She is a blessing to everyone she encounters, and I hope sharing her story, and wearing red stars on my boots, will encourage others to be mindful of symptoms, see a doctor regularly, and live life to the fullest!

Rachel: Substance Abuse and Addiction
This year, I will be wearing a red star to bring awareness to substance abuse and addiction in honor and remembrance of my dad. He battled addiction most of my life and died almost six years ago due to an accidental overdose. Substance abuse and addiction is typically a difficult topic for people to speak out about and I want to change that, as it takes the lives of loved ones daily. Addiction is a disease that affects not only the person struggling, but strongly impacts their loved ones and people around them. My dad was my best friend and greatest cheerleader. I wish he had received the help he needed before his addictions took him from me so he could see how far I've come. I'm proudly wearing my red star to celebrate his life and remember the amazing father that he was. I love you, dad.

Tess: Type 1 Diabetes
The ribbon that represents Type 1 Diabetes awareness has a tiny red blood drop on it, and the special star on My Cause Boots has a tiny red heart. I want to raise awareness for the warning signs of this disease, and share a symbol of hope for everyone out there who faces the challenges of type 1 each day! There are many misconceptions surrounding diabetes, and unfortunately it can go dangerously undiagnosed simply because of lack of education. There is no "stereotype," T1 can affect anyone regardless of gender, age, or body type. After choosing this cause last year, I had many people reached out to share their own personal experience. I met some incredible people and learned that there is such a huge T1 community of support! Please continue to share your stories with the world and use education to protect your loved ones. If we can prevent the unnecessary sufferings of just one person, then these boots have done their job!

Taylor J. : St. Jude Children's Hospital – Childhood Cancer
I have chosen St. Jude Children's Hospital to bring awareness to childhood cancer. I am a Tri delt, and during my time at Texas A&M, I had the opportunity to raise money for this incredible organization. At one of our philanthropy events in college, I met a young girl named Presley who was 3 years old at the time, loved cheetos, and loved cheering on the aggies. Presley also happened to be a patient at St. Jude. She touched my life in more ways than she will ever know. I remember talking to her family and seeing the joy on their faces knowing that their child was going to return to a place full of love, rather than a hospital with blank walls.

Taylor P: Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Light The Night
I chose The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Light The Night because it has touched my family directly and we participate in this fight to cure cancer every year. My great Aunt passed from Lymphoma and this walk gives us an opportunity to honor her and help others fight this illness. This charity raises funds for cutting edge research in hopes of saving lives and helping patients and families with education and support in their cancer treatment. It has been so moving to walk along with families and friends and honor the lives of those who have passed and support the survivors who are continuing their fight. To see everyone walking with their lights is so uplifting and full of hope.

Savannah: Women of Vision
I have chosen visual impairment and blindness awareness as my cause this year I was inspired by a group of ladies with little-to-no sight in a program called the Women of Vision. My mom has directed the program for ten years and I have been inspired by her efforts to make an impact on the visually impaired community. The program has received national acclaim for improving accessibility to the arts for those with visual impairments.
I've been lucky enough to spend some time with these ladies over the years and they are a phenomenal group of funny, talented and inspirational women who really dispel a lot of misconceptions people often have about what they can and can not do. I am amazed at what they create and am always fascinated by the stories they share. I know that being able to express themselves through art has changed their outlook on their lives and even their disability. By wearing this color on my boot I am dancing for the amazing ladies of Women of Vision. I hope by highlighting the group I can help encourage other communities and organizations to adopt similar programs for those who are visually impaired or blind. I also hope that the amazing ladies of Women of Visioncan inspire others that they can do whatever they want to do and that they are not limited by their visual impairment.
