Rank’Em: NFC East Has Best Guards & Centers
We know the Cowboys have some of the best guards and centers in football. Looking at the 2019 schedule, which of their opponents can say the same?

10. Austin Blythe: Lines up at right guard. Shows initial quickness off the snap. Stays after his block. Does a nice job of pushing his man past the hole. Push/shove blocker. Will extend his hands and run his feet. Adjusts quickly to his man in pass protection but can get in trouble when he becomes over extended. When his head goes down the defender can work around him. Will struggle with power. Have seen him get walked back. Is best in the running game when he can use angles to block. Not going to move his man one-on-one with power. Good scheme fit due to the way he is able to play on the move. Offense requires a lot of pulling/trapping and this fits his game well.

9. Brandon Brooks: Lines up at right guard. Physically impressive build. Wide body. Strong. Have to deal with his power all game. Defenders have trouble knocking him back. Gets movement in the running game with his mass. Is a catcher blocker. Doesn't punch. Will let defender get into his body then use his power to control him. Hard guy to get away from. Not a quick footed player will have struggles when he has to play with range on the cutoff/reach block. Has trouble getting his head across the defender. Takes him some time to get going. Plays square along the line of scrimmage. Doesn't get turned or knocked off balance.

8. Frank Ragnow: Played left guard last season but will likely be moved back to his natural position of center for the 2019 season. Is a belly to belly blocker. Likes to get real close to his man and hold him. Gains ground in the running game playing this way. Defenders have a hard time getting away from him due to this technique. Amazing how well he holds. The closer he gets the better he plays. Uses a really wide base but still manages to adjust on the move. Aware pass blocker. Is always willing to help across the pocket when necessary. Athletic feet. Moves easily. No wasted movements or steps. Plays better against opponents that are quick than those that play with power. Big guys gave him a little trouble during the season.

7.Brandon Scherff: Lines up at right guard. Solid pass set. Gets away from the line with ease. Was a tackle in college and this helps him. Athletic foot work. Adjusts easily to the rusher. Doesn't look hurried or out of control. Has some pop in his hands. Can jolt the defender. Will sit down and stop them in their tracks. Good upper body power. Fluid movement getting to the second level to block linebackers and get out on the screen. Locates his target and is able to execute the block. Can get movement in the running game. Will work his hands inside and run his feet. Veteran blocker that has a few tricks to his game. Impressive the way that he gets away holding. Has a nasty side to his finish.

6. Corey Linsley: Moves easily. Can snatch a wide technique along the line. Knows how to position himself in the block. Stays active. Adjusts well to the twist stunt. Passes his man and then is in position to pick up the next guy. Doesn't miss on the second level. Finds his target and stays locked on. Will surprise you with his strength. Can hold his man in place along the line of scrimmage. Doesn't get driven back. Is able to anchor down. Plays with lateral agility and balance. Nice blocking angles. Shows the ability to finish. Consistent blocker. Matches up well against power/speed.

5. Cody Whitehair: Played multiple positions at Kansas State. Outstanding quickness. Gets out of his stance in a hurry. Top shelf footwork. Gets to the second level easily. Finds his target and finishes. Ball will cut behind him. Good initial pass set. Plays with lateral slide. Productive hand use/punch. Shows the ability to handle power. Athletic ability to handle quickness. Hasn't missed a game during his career. Extremely durable and dependable. Consistent blocker overall. Not much up and down to his game. Has stretches of the game where he doesn't get beat or make a mistake.

4. Kevin Zeitler: Lines up at right guard. Will be in his first season with the Giants coming over from the Browns. Outstanding run blocker. When he gets into his man can eliminate him from the play. Perfect position as a blocker. Keeps his head out of the block and keeps his knees bent. Foot speed is good. Plays with a burst. Ability to pull/trap. Plays with range. Gets down the line in a hurry. Doesn't labor at all when moving. Outstanding double team blocker. Times it well when to come off and get to the second level. Flexible in the hips. Explosive player. Is able to maintain contact balance throughout the block. Hard guy to shake lose when he gets hooked up.

3. Larry Warford: Lines up at right guard. Massive man. Adjusts well in space. Pulls well. Rare to see him on the ground. Shows range. Will maul the defender when he gets locked up. Powerful man. Plays with leverage. Can get some serious push in the running game. When he gets into his man just bullies him out of the way. Will climb his block and finish. Tends to get a little wide on his pass set but is able to adjust if he gets in trouble. Upper body power to hold his man in place along the line. Had some trouble against Aaron Donald and his quickness. Will help across the pocket when uncovered. Plays with awareness.

2. Shaq Mason: Lines up at right guard. Square blocker. Plays on his feet. Has some pop in his hands. Can jolt the rusher with his punch. Aware to help across the pocket when uncovered. Not afraid to take a shot into the ribs of the rusher. Hands/feet work very well together. Good set/positioning. Plays with solid knee bend. Keeps defenders off his body. Stays after his block. Works hard to finish. Adjust well to the twist stunt. Doesn't get out of position. Moves easily. Plays with football intelligence. Ability to process information to execute his assignment.

1. Jason Kelce: Lines up at center. One of the most athletic offensive linemen in the league. Outstanding playing speed/quickness. Plays with a burst. Scheme caters to his ability. Is asked to pull when uncovered to help on the second level. Shows lateral range. Can get to the outside in a hurry. Is able to adjust in space quickly. Outstanding body control and balance. Best when he can block on the angles. Knows how to position his body between the ball carrier and defender. Footwork helps for his pass sets. Gets away from the line quickly. If he has a weakness, he's not the strongest blocker. Powerful defenders can break him down on his pass set.
