Rank’Em: These 10 Players Shined Against Detroit
The Cowboys had plenty of heroes Sunday, led once again by their quarterback. But after Dak, who else made the list of the Top 10 players in Detroit?
10 – Xavier Su'a-Filo – The Cowboys really didn't miss a beat with Su'a-Filo in the game at left guard. The running game wasn't a strength but he held up well in the passing game. The entire line played well but Su'a-Filo makes the list for stepping in with his first start of the year.
9 – Tony Pollard – This was what the Cowboys envisioned of Pollard when he was drafted. He complemented Zeke and showed what he can do with the ball when he's in space.
8 – Ezekiel Elliott – His stats aren't crazy, but the Lions made sure of that. They weren't going to give him much room to run, but the Cowboys still found a way to rack up over 500 yards of offense and Zeke still found the end zone twice.
7- Robert Quinn – He entered the game averaging over a sack a game and that didn't change. He went to 8.5 sacks in eight games, making him the best pass-rusher the Cowboys have this year.
6 – Michael Bennett – He had two offside penalties, but you'll trade that for two sacks all day long. Bennett had a huge play late in the fourth quarter that got the Cowboys' defense off the field for good.
5 – Tyron Smith – Early in the game, the Lions' Trey Flowers rushed him back into Dak Prescott and you had to wonder what kind of game Smith would have. After that, he locked it down and there wasn't much pressure on Dak, especially from his blind side.
4 – Byron Jones – No tackles on defense. No pass breakups or interceptions. Yet, Jones was outstanding and he has been all season. The Lions have some really good receivers but nothing was working and Jones was a big reason why. Teams aren't even throwing at him anymore.
3 – Randall Cobb – Last week, Cobb had his best game of the season against the Vikings. This week, he was even better against the Lions. Maybe there's something to the fact the former Packers standout is facing his old NFC North rivals. It's a good thing the Cowboys play the Bears in a couple of weeks.
2 – Michael Gallup – Now, this is the type of performance you want when the No. 1 receiver is either hurting or has one of the top corners in the league on him throughout the game. For whatever reason, Amari Cooper wasn't his usual self but that's ok if Gallup balls out like he did. It was a spectacular performance that included one spectacular catch.
1 – Dak Prescott – There's really no other option here for the top spot. Yeah, the receivers played well, but the guy that distributed the ball was simply on fire. Sure, it was a win over a struggling Lions team but there haven't been many games where Dak has been better than that. He's thrown for a few more yards and had a better rating, but in terms of spreading it around and taking what the defense is giving, he was masterful.
