Mike Maples re-joined the Dallas Cowboys as the director of video for the 2021 season, following the departure of longtime director Robert Blackwell.
Maples comes back to the Cowboys after spending 13 seasons as the director of video services at TCU. In his role, Maples handled all in-house digital recording and video equipment, coordinated the filming of all practices and games, handled all video exchange between TCU and its opponents and broke down all footage, providing cut-ups of every game for the coaching staff.
Maples originally joined the Cowboys as an assistant and then assistant director of video in 1996 and spent five seasons with the club before leaving to join SMU to serve as the director of video services - a role which he filled for eight seasons.
With the Cowboys, Maples is responsible for acquisition and maintenance of the club's vast digital video library of NFL and assisting with college games. The technology department generates video, stats and scouting reports on upcoming opponents for the coaching staff. Maples also oversees the input of Dallas Cowboys game video and its conversion to iPads for coaches and players to review immediately after games.
Maples earned his bachelor's degree in Radio, Television and Film from the University of North Texas.
Maples and his wife, Sara, both natives of Coppell, live in Flower Mound and are the parents of two daughters, Emma and Kate.
