The Dallas Cowboys drafted defensive end Chauncey Golston in the third round (84th overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft to bolster a defensive line that struggled against the run in 2020. Golston, who is known as a high-motor defender that has spent time on both the edge and interior, finished his collegiate career with 129 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, 12.0 sacks, three interceptions, three fumble recoveries and a forced fumble. As a rookie in 2021, Golston played in 15 games as a reserve lineman and on special teams. With the departure of Randy Gregory in free agency, the Cowboys utilized Golston and his versatility in 2022, as he played in 15 games and tallied 22 tackles, a sack, a tackle for loss, seven pressures and a pass breakup at multiple positions across the defensive front.
