Taste of the Cowboys Challenge Information | 2021
In May local student culinary teams competed in the 4th Annual Taste of the Cowboys Challenge, presented by Dairy MAX and supported by Legends Hospitality, Gene and Jerry Jones Family Foundation, Albertsons Tom Thumb and Otterbox. Teams from Dallas Skyline, Frisco ISD, Arlington's Dan Dipert Career Tech and Hurst-Euless-Bedford's Buinger CTE went head-to-head in an Iron Chef and Chopped-inspired competition to create a three-course tailgate-themed menu utilizing common pantry staples found on the North Texas Food Bank's most needed donations list. Schools prepared their recipes live from their campuses while a Legends mentor-chef cooked on their behalf from the stadium. Dallas Cowboys Legend George Teague; AT&T Stadium Legends Director of Food and Beverage George Wasai; Annette Volleman of Volleman's Family Farm; and Gretchen Crichton of Dairy MAX served as judges with HEB ISD's Buinger CTE taking home the first place prize – a $10,000 grant for their school. All participating teams received grant money, a $500 gift card from Albertsons Tom Thumb and an Otterbox Venture 45 cooler.
