FRISCO, Texas — The most consistent player on the Cowboys' roster this year – and perhaps in the entire league so far – was rewarded for his stellar play by the NFL on Thursday.

Brandon Aubrey has been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for September. It's the third time he's won this award after winning it twice (October, December) in 2023.

So far this year, Aubrey has been nearly perfect, aside from a 52-yard miss in the final seconds of the last game in the Giants. But before that, Aubrey made 12 straight field goals, including two from 60 yards or more.

His 65-yard field goal against the Ravens is the longest in Cowboys history and the second-longest in NFL history.

The Cowboys are sitting at 2-2 on the season and Aubrey has been a major reason they've even kept some games close because of his consistency. He made all four of his kicks in Cleveland in Week 1 – and even had a successful 66-yard field goal negated because of a delay of game penalty. In Week 2, he made four more, including a 52-yarder against the Saints. The following week, Aubrey made his 65-yard kick and a 51-yarder and then he made two against the Giants before the last miss.

The Cowboys have had a player win this award now six times in team history:

  • 1996 – Chris Boniol (November)
  • 1997 – Richie Cunningham (September)
  • 1999 – Jason Tucker (December)
  • 2023 – Brandon Aubrey (October)
  • 2023 - Brandon Aubrey (December)
  • 2024 – Brandon Aubrey (September)
