FRISCO, TX — You made it. It's officially the first week of the NFL regular season and that means it's almost time for the Dallas Cowboys to make their way to Ohio to take on the Cleveland Browns in a matchup that not only counts, all of the preseason fun now in the rearview mirror, but also one that is far from starved for headlines.

There's the early battle for the right to be talked about as the possible 2024 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, an award Micah Parsons was a lead horse for before losing out last season to Myles Garrett; and the latter will try to baptize Cowboys' rookie first-round pick Tyler Guyton by fire on Sunday.

Though he may find that task a bit more difficult than anticipated, if Guyton's camp reps against Parsons are any indication.

WHEN AND WHERE:

Date: Sunday, Sept. 8
Time: 3:25 pm CT
Location: Huntington Bank Field (Cleveland, OH)

Guyton and fellow rookie Cooper Beebe have earned the right to start on the new-look Cowboys' offensive line and Ezekiel Elliott is back to help out the rushing attack behind Dak Prescott, who is coming off of an All-Pro season that saw him land second place in MVP voting, while CeeDee Lamb looks to continue to prove he's worth the shiny new megadeal he landed in August after a historic 2023 season.

As for Dallas' defense outside of Parsons, Mike Zimmer takes the helm going forward and his unpredictable scheme is down an All-Pro cornerback, yes, with DaRon Bland down for several games, but it also features the return of another history-making cornerback named Trevon Diggs and is headlined by a wildly revamped linebacker corps along with big body additions to the interior of the defensive line — namely Linval Joseph and Jordan Phillips.

They'll all be forced to contend with a mobile Deshaun Watson who wants to show there's no rust on him after a season-ending shoulder injury last season, and that he can get the job done with Amari Cooper and his passing weapons as they'll be without all-world running back Nick Chubb.

And that's all just a taste of the three-course meal that awaits in Cleveland.

Tune in and don't blink.
