FRISCO, Texas — The last time Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott took on the Pittsburgh Steelers was in 2016, when the two were rookies walking into a sea of Terrible Towels in Western Pennsylvania with expectations of taking the victory — going on to do exactly that, and in explosive fashion.
A walk-off touchdown from Elliott did the job for the Cowboys in the waning moments of that contest, in what was another nail biter in what remains one of the most storied rivalries in the history of the NFL.
WHEN AND WHERE:
Date: Sunday, Oct. 6
Time: 7:20 p.m. CT
Location: Acrisure Stadium (Pittsburgh, PA)
Things look wildly different for both teams in 2024, however, as it's Mike McCarthy combating Mike Tomlin, for starters, and Mike Zimmer tries to figure out how to bottle up quarterback Justin Fields with a defensive front that will feature neither Micah Parsons nor DeMarcus Lawrence, both expected to miss the matchup due to injury.
Fields is off to red-hot start in his first season with the Steelers, and Prescott will need to find a way to win reps against one of the better defenses in the league — featuring TJ Watt — while being without Brandin Cooks, who will be sidelined with an infection in his right knee.
Will the Steelers bounce back from their lone loss this season, or will the Cowboys string together back-to-back wins at the expense of their age-old foe?
The best way to find out is to tune in.
