Farewell From Ashton

Written by Ashton Torres

When they tell you time flies by fast that is an understatement! For the past three years I have had the privilege and the honor to wear the iconic uniform that is recognized worldwide. I am so blessed and proud to be forever associated with "America's Team." The Lord had perfect timing for me to grace the sidelines of Cowboys Stadium, and I am so thankful for every moment.

I will never forget the moment that I first walked through the doors of Valley Ranch. The nerves, anticipation, and excitement you feel is overwhelming. As I looked at all of the beautiful cameo shots and swimsuit photos that were hanging along the walls, I couldn't imagine myself practicing there each night. Never in my wildest dreams did I anticipate being one of the select few to make the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and to join the other amazing girls with my photo now hanging along the walls in Valley Ranch! The memories, experiences, and friendships will last me a lifetime.

To Alyssa – the best little sister any one could ever ask for – Words cannot fully express how much I love you little sissy. We have been dancing together for the past 16 years! I am so happy that we were able to make history together and to spend a year as one of "America's Sweethearts" together! I pray that the Lord continues to let your light shine to others and that they see just how beautiful and wonderful you are inside and out. I am so blessed to have such a loyal, encouraging, kind, and selfless little sister. I know both of our lives are changing but I am confident that you are going to be successful in everything that you do! I LOVE YOU maid of honor! !

To my beautiful teammates – Each and every one of you has touched my life in a special way. It is bittersweet saying goodbye but I honestly couldn't have ended it with a better group of young women. I will never forget every incredible moment that we spent together. This chapter of my life was unforgettable and most young women never get this kind of opportunity in a lifetime. We are the lucky few! I am so blessed for the love, support, and friendships that each of you gave me. No matter what kind of day I was having I always knew once I made it to practice you girls would bring me joy! I am going to miss spending all of my time with you girls, but I am excited for what the future holds.

To Kelli and Judy – This organization has truly shaped me into a confident young lady and pushed me to be the best version of myself that I could possibly be. I am so thankful for all of the wonderful opportunities. This organization changed my life and encouraged me to strive for the best in every area of my life so thank you for always expecting the best. Thank you for believing in me and allowing me to excel and love every moment. I love you both and I am so happy that our paths crossed! !

In September, I will be marrying the love of my life and my best friend, Tyler. We have known each other since the 6th grade and I will never forget the moment that I saw him. He has truly been my rock throughout this entire process and has supported me every step of the way. I am excited to see what the Lord has planned for our lives and I can't wait to watch the future unfold.

Speaking of Weddings… I actually have 10 beautiful bridesmaids that will be standing beside me on our special day. Three of them I met in May of 2009 when I first began this journey. Meagan McVay, Evan Anderson, and Cassie Trammell. These girls have been by my side since the very beginning and I love each of them for very different reasons. I feel like I have known these girls since I was 2 years old. Sometimes it is hard to believe that we have only known each other for three years…it feels like a lifetime. I am so very grateful to have women in my life that love me unconditionally and want the best for me. It is very rare to find friends that will last you a lifetime!

Throughout this process I have learned so much about life and myself. I will always love performing and dance will always be a part of my life. There is nothing like what I have experienced performing at Cowboys Stadium—it is the biggest stage that I have ever danced on. I am walking away from this experience, not sad, but SO happy that I was one of the lucky girls to ever dance on the famous Cowboys star. !
