FRISCO, Texas – Looking for more experienced depth on the offensive line, the Cowboys signed free agent guard Xavier Su'a-Filo, a 41-game starter for the Houston Texans over the last four years.

Su'a-Filo was a second-round pick by the Texans in 2014. He started all but one game for them the last two seasons.

To make room for Su'a-Filo, the Cowboys released Kadeem Edwards, who was brought back late last week after being cut a few days earlier.

Backup guard Parker Ehinger, acquired in a trade with the Chiefs on Aug. 31, hurt his knee last week in practice and was placed on injured reserve.

The Cowboys have tried to address their interior line depth since Pro Bowl center Travis Frederick was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome near the end of preseason. Joe Looney is starting at center while Frederick is sidelined. The club also claimed center Adam Redmond off waivers after final cuts.

Heading into Sunday night's game with the Giants, the Cowboys will likely have Su'a-Filo and offensive tackle Cameron Fleming as the two active backups behind the starters.
