Did Tyler Guyton and Cooper Beebe show you enough to say that we have our left tackle and center of the future? Personally, I thought Guyton would struggle, especially since he didn't have a ton of experience at left tackle, but Beebe seemed to get exponentially better game after game. – Brian Dales/Kingsland, TX
Mickey: You are correct about Cooper Beebe. The more he played, the better he played. I'd say the Cowboys are satisfied with him as their center going forward.
Tyler Guyton just needs to play more. He only had 14 starts at tackle at Oklahoma, all on the right side. He was pretty raw, and it showed. He also needs to be able to play through some nicks and bruises better than he did. Looks like he has the talent and the physical ability to grow. But tell you what, thought Asim Richards played well there in his place. And who knows, he might be able to create some competition there for the starting job.
Tommy: Between the two, I think Cooper Beebe showed more stability at his position. The great thing about Beebe, and this was true in the draft process as well, was his versatility. He'll be able to play at center or guard for the rest of his career if one day, the Cowboys find a natural center they feel is better than Beebe and have a need at guard.
Guyton is a different story, and had a tough year with a mix of injury and penalty struggles that loomed over him a majority of the way too. Is left tackle where he will spend the rest of his career or does he move to the right side like he played in college? That's a question that the Cowboys will have to answer going forward, but I think Guyton's frame and potential gives him the time to eventually start to show you things going forward.
