Mailbag: Who's The Next Cowboys Hall Of Famer?

Now that Gil Brandt has made it, who do you think should be the next Cowboy in the Hall of Fame and why? - MIKE S / PLANO, TX

Bryan: I really thought it would have been Darren Woodson but that looks unlikely. My guess now would be Jason Witten. The repetition and production are just too good for the committee not to elect him on the first ballot.

Rob: Got no problem with Ed Reed being a first-ballot Hall of Famer. But if Steve Atwater and John Lynch are this close to Canton – both were modern-era finalists this year – then Darren Woodson should be right in the conversation. Had just as decorated a career at safety, in my opinion.

With the successes the pro personnel department has had uncovering gems like Antwaun Woods and Xavier Su'a-Filo, does it make the later-round draft picks more likely to be used as trade fodder? - GARET TANAKA / WAILUKU, HI

Bryan: You could include those picks in deals to move up or you can stand in there and make some picks. I'd like to believe that they could make some selections like Anthony Brown and Xavier Woods that could help this roster.

Rob: Still need the majority of those late-round picks to come in and at least compete for jobs at cap-friendly salaries. Sure, teams move around later in the draft. The Cowboys dealt a sixth-rounder for Tavon Austin last year. But remember, guys like Anthony Brown, Xavier Woods and Noah Brown have stepped in and earned roles on this team.
