FRISCO, Texas – Cowboys owner Jerry Jones revealed that Trevon Diggs has a tear in his calf on his weekly Friday radio show on 105.3 The Fan, and his status to play on Sunday against the Falcons is up in the air.

The Cowboys have officially listed Diggs as "questionable" on Friday's injury report.

Jones was initially asked about Diggs' postgame interaction with a reporter on Sunday night after the loss to San Francisco, but went on to discuss the nature the calf injury that's kept the Pro Bowl corner out of practice this week.

"We all know that we're proud to have [Trevon] Diggs, and we all know that everybody deals with their own issues," Jones said. "What none of us knew when that was going on was that he had a tear in his calf and was going to maybe limit him, that'd be enough right there to get you in a foul mood."

While the injury is obviously not ideal considering DaRon Bland's status is up in the air for Sunday, Amani Oruwariye was just put on IR and Caelan Carson last played in September against the Ravens, Jones clarified that the injury doesn't necessarily set Diggs' status for Sunday in stone.

"I'm not so sure he's out," Jones said. "My point is that's why he wasn't at practice the other day, and he came in with that early in the week."

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy echoed the sentiment in his weekly conference call later in the day, adding that Diggs was making progress but is still unsure of his game status.

"He worked with Britt [Brown] today, had a good workout, so we'll see how he's doing tomorrow," McCarthy said. "I would project it as probably a game time decision."

The tricky aspect of dealing with calf injuries is ensuring that they don't get worse, and it's especially the case with Diggs in his first season back from an ACL injury on his opposite leg. With that comes a patient process in determining whether or not it's smart to have Diggs play, but it sounds like he's on the right track.

"We just got to continue to get more information, there's a process and a procedure and specific drills that we'll need to see him do tomorrow," McCarthy said. "He had a much better day today than we could've anticipated. He's doing everything he can to try to get ready for Sunday."

Earlier this week, Diggs met with the media and discussed his injury, seeming to be in good spirits and confident in his ability to play.

"I feel good, I had some tightness in my calf, a little sore coming out of the game…" Diggs said. "I'm just getting treatment and working through it."
