In order to provide competition at punter, the Dallas Cowboys signed tested veteran Bryan Anger in April 2021. Anger, an 11-year vet, has punted 784 times with a 46.6-yard gross, a 41.2-yard net, 283 downed inside the 20 and a long of 83. He is ninth on the NFL's all-time list for net yards (41.0) and 11th in gross yards (46.4). Since coming into the league in 2012, Anger is second in the league with 784 punts, 11th with a 46.6 gross average and ninth with a net of 41.2. Originally drafted in the third round (70th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft by Jacksonville, Anger landed in Dallas after playing nine NFL seasons, including four with the Jaguars (2012-15), three in Tampa Bay (2016-18) and two in Houston (2019-20). His first year in Dallas was record breaking as he led the NFL with a team-record 44.6 net average, which was also good for fourth in NFL history. Anger signed a three-year contract with the Cowboys during 2022 free agency and tied a personal best from 2021 with a 48.4 gross average, a club record, on 68 punts in 2022.
