The Dallas Cowboys chose Wisconsin tight end Jake Ferguson in the fourth round (129th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft. At Wisconsin, Ferguson established himself as a solid run blocker known for his reliable set of hands after catching a pass in all 47 collegiate appearances, a Wisconsin school record. The addition of Ferguson gave Dallas an upper hand in the run game in 2022, as the Cowboys ranked second in the league in rush yards with multiple tight ends on the field (962). Ferguson also recorded 19 catches in his rookie campaign, the fourth-most catches by a rookie tight end in Cowboys history, in 16 games played with eight starts. With the departure of Dalton Schultz in the 2023 offseason, Ferguson will be relied on to grow into a complete and consistent threat at the tight end position.
