The Dallas Cowboys added a talented and driven cornerback with their third round draft pick (92nd overall) in the 2017 NFL Draft when they selected Jourdan Lewis. Lewis played in 15 games with seven starts as a rookie and finished seventh - tops among rookies - on the defense with 50 tackles, two for losses, and a team-high tying 11 breakups. Lewis saw time in the slot in 2018, playing in 15 games with one start, and notched 16 tackles, one pressure, one breakup, one interception and two fumble recoveries. He saw extended time in the slot through 2019 after the club lost Anthony Brown (triceps), and Lewis recorded 48 tackles, 4.0 sacks (the most by a Cowboys defensive back since Bill Bates had 5.0 in 1984), a team-high tying two interceptions, six pass breakups and a fumble recovery, starting five-of-16 games played. In 2020 Lewis settled in as the starting nickel corner and finished fifth on the defense with 60 tackles while tying for second with five tackles for loss while adding 2.0 sacks, giving him 6.0 for his career - second by a Cowboys cornerback behind Orlando Scandrick (11.5). Lewis signed a three-year contract with Dallas during 2021 free agency and started 13 of the 16 games he played. On the year, he was sixth on the defense with 59 tackles (second in his career) while nabbing a career-best three interceptions and tying his career-high with 11 breakups. He returned as the nickel corner in 2022 but had his season cut short after suffering a foot injury midway through the season, posting 27 tackles, a sack and an interception before ending up on Reserve/Injured. He will return in 2023 as one of the most experienced players on the Dallas defense with his sights on recapturing his role in the secondary.
