In the last few weeks, the Cowboys have seen two former players now land head coaching jobs in the NFL, upping the overall number to three across the league.
Kellen Moore, a former Cowboys quarterback and later assistant coach, landed the Saints head coach job.
A few weeks earlier, Aaron Glenn was named head coach of the Jets. Glenn, played two seasons in Dallas. He was on the Cowboys' 2005 squad, teammates with Dan Campbell, who is the Lions head coach.
Glenn was the defensive coordinator on Campbell's staff in Detroit.
Moore has been the offensive coordinator in Dallas (2020-22) before being the OC with the Chargers and the Eagles this past season, helping Philly win a Super Bowl.
He was a finalist for the Cowboys' head coaching vacancy to replace Mike McCarthy. Moore interviewed for the position but the Cowboys ultimately went with Brian Schottenheimer.
Moore was a quarterback for the Cowboys from 2015-17, starting three games at the end of the 2015 season. His injury in the 2016 training camp helped pave the way for rookie Dak Prescott to move up the depth chart and eventually take over for Tony Romo, igniting his path to Rookie of the Year.
Moore, Glenn and Campbell are the only three former Cowboys players with current NFL head coaching jobs. They join Todd Bowles (Bucs) and Dan Quinn (Commanders) as former Cowboys assistant that are head coaches.
