Physical mismatch for any offensive lineman. He showed great improvement from being a big body to becoming a legitimate pass rush threat. Moves extremely well for his size and is not afraid to shoot a gap. Won’t stay on a block for long. | Doesn’t have the same explosion off the line of scrimmage as other top defensive linemen. Will also lose the leverage battle from time to time, most often it’s because his pads are a bit too high. Only on the field for a limited amount of time before a drop off in energy. |
OVERVIEW: The second piece of Texas' elite interior defensive line with Byron Murphy II. Winner of the 2023 Outland Trophy and a unanimous first-team All-American. Sweat finished his final season in Austin with 45 tackles, eight for loss and two sacks. But it was his constant impact in the run game and anchoring the defensive line that really caught the attention of NFL organizations. It took him five years of college football and over 60 games of action to get there, but Sweat has clearly developed into a day one contributor in the pros.
