Just one year ago, the Cowboys had more question marks at tight end than any other position. Now, though, that spot is on solid ground heading into 2024, and the development of Jake Ferguson is a big reason why. Ferguson blossomed into a Pro Bowl player in his second season and was the lone bright spot in a disappointing playoff exit. Not only is he primed to be the starter in Dallas – and one of the NFL’s best young tight ends overall – Luke Schoonmaker returns for his sophomore effort as well. The 2023 second-round pick never made a huge impact as a receiver, but his blocking ability should allow him to be an ideal contributor on the offense. With the likes of Peyton Hendershot entering his third season, along with John Stephens coming off an ACL injury, the Cowboys even have some depth here. Meaning there is less of a need to add more to the tight end position through draft picks or rookie free agents.
