Wide base, wide chest, strong punch and even better footwork. Easily the most well-rounded and NFL-ready prospect in the draft class. Cuts the field in half and is a bulldozer in the run game and passing game. Reliable in big games and any environment. | Doesn’t bend his knees well, which affects his pad level and leverage at the point of attack. Labored to get up to speed in the lateral game at times. Same can be said when trying to square up against moving defenders and an explosive move is needed. |
OVERVIEW: The 2023 Rimington Trophy winner, an award given to the most outstanding center in college football, lives up to the expectation. He was the first Pac-12 player to ever win the award, and proved his worth with unanimous first team All-American honors as well. Powers-Johnson enters the league as a plug-and-play starting center with unlimited upside at the position. His wide-set frame, toughness and football IQ all give him a leg up in the NFL. Teams won't waste time on him. He should be starting by the end of training camp.
