Strong arm and one of the best deep-ball throwers in the draft class. Put on a masterclass of how to play the position with poise and pocket presence. Can throw on the run and possesses the prototypical QB build. | Struggled at times making the complicated reads. Would get himself in trouble by forcing passes and taking too long to navigate through progressions. Footwork lapses at times when timing is thrown off. |
OVERVIEW: Strength, accuracy and speed – a deadly trio that Maye will bring to the NFL as one of the most well-rounded quarterback prospects in the draft class. Maye took over for former draft pick Sam Howell in 2022 and immediately lived up to his five-star reputation. He threw for 4,321 yards and 38 touchdowns in his first year as a starter, taking the Tar Heels offense to a completely new level. His 2023 season wasn't far off with 3,608 yards and 31 total scores. As long as he can limit turnovers, he'll be a franchise quarterback quickly.
