A hard-hitting thumping safety that can cover a lot of space, Kinchens was a big bright spot for Miami with his ability to impact a play in so many ways. As a cover guy in space, accounting for the run game, or even rushing the passer on safety blitzes, Kinchens brings a lot to the NFL level. | Kinchens’ aggressive play-style leads to sometimes overcommitting on open field tackles and allowing big plays over the top of his responsibilities in the defensive backfield at times. If he can find a better balance at the NFL level, he has perennial All-Pro upside. |
OVERVIEW: After a storied prep career at Miami Northwestern High School, Kinchens decided to stay home and attend "The U" where he excelled despite undergoing multiple head coaching regimes. Kinchens stamped his presence on the draft scene in 2022 with a season that earned him an AP All-American First Team nod after accounting for 59 tackles and six interceptions. He followed that up in 2023 with yet another campaign that saw him force turnovers with five interceptions along with 59 more tackles.
