2025 NFL Draft Tight End Prospects

Out of all the positions on the Cowboys roster, tight end may be the least worrisome. In fact, the entire depth chart from 2024 is basically returning. Leading the charge again should be Jake Ferguson. He missed three games and had somewhat of a down year in 2024 but earned a trip to the Pro Bowl the season before. Meanwhile, Luke Schoonmaker did see his numbers go up, but the jury is still out on whether he’s met the expectations of a second-round pick. Behind those two, undrafted free agents Brevyn Spann-Ford, John Stephens and Princeton Fant have all shown promise. So the numbers are there. The problem is do the Cowboys have a true impact player in the bunch? Ferguson seemed on his way and was ranked by Pro Football Focus as the 10th best tight end in 2023. Unfortunately, he didn’t crack the site’s top 50 last season. Does that mean the Cowboys could select a tight end in this year’s draft if a true playmaker is sitting there? Possibly, but only if they stick with their best-man-available philosophy. Otherwise, they’ll likely address other positions and hope Ferguson bounces back and Schoonmaker makes a bigger jump in his third year.
