2025 NFL Draft Quarterback Prospects

Obviously, the Cowboys have their No. 1 quarterback. That was made perfectly clear last September when the team inked Dak Prescott to a mega-deal to keep him wearing the Blue and Silver for the foreseeable future. But are they in good shape at the position? As far as backups go, Dallas entered free agency with only one other quarterback on the roster, Will Grier. Gone was Trey Lance, who Stephen Jones said won’t be back next year, as well as Cooper Rush, who was set to take the second-string job in Baltimore. Because of that, Jones said the team is looking to select a quarterback in the upcoming draft, something the Cowboys haven’t done since 2020. Of course, doing so is a good idea, and not just because more depth is needed. Prescott is coming off his second major injury in five seasons, and he’ll be 32 years old this fall. Should the team’s brass be thinking about an eventual replacement already? It never hurts to be prepared. However, because the Cowboys have so many more pressing needs, grabbing a quarterback early in the draft seems unlikely. But come Day 3, don’t be surprised if they do indeed address the position. In fact, it might be more surprising if they don’t.
